Well Hello…..

Well, after getting my first motorbike, I decided to follow in the footsteps of cbf125rider and chronicle my experiences with this machine.

I bought my CBF125 on 23rd July, and so far have loved every minute of it. I can’t believe I left it until I was 30 before getting my first motorbike. I think the mid-life crisis kicked in because I went from nothing to having CBT, new bike, all the safety gear and insurance in less than 2 weeks.

  1. This sounds very familiar. I am 35 and i decided to use a motorbike to go to work on. I went on cbt in April, bought a cg125 a week later with all the kit, did my theory test, module 1 and module 2 in several months and passed my test mid july. I have now done about 1500 miles so far. I have just passed a bike safe course last week and will continue to improve my riding through the iam skills for life course early next year. Good luck with your riding. Congratulations on a good blog. I look forward to reading more about your journey.

  2. Hi Martin,

Good blog. I am in a similar position to you. I decided to get a motorbike in April this year at the age of 34 (getting rid of my car). I use it to go back and forth to work. I started with a cbt course mid april and by the end of april i had a cg125, all the gear and started to practice on my bike. I passed the theory test, mod 1 and mod 2 and gained my restricted (A2) licence mid july with no instructor training. I attended bike safe last week and thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope to do the IAM skills for life course early next year to improve my riding skills.

Good luck and thanks for a good blog.

  3. Thanks Paul

I’m thinking I’ll ride out the winter on the CBT and look at doing the full test early next year when it starts to warm up again! What are you riding now? Still on the faithful cg125 or moved up to something bigger now?

    Cheers

    Martin

P.S. I think i was too slow approving your post so you’ve done another one :)

    • Hi Martin,

new to blog. did not realise the process. I am riding through winter on CG125, but looking at upgrading in march/ april next year to either hyosung gt250r or ninja 250.

      cheers

      paul

      • Nice – fancied the Ninja 250r myself too. Not sure though if I’m spending that amount of money, I might look at the faithful 600s – eg Bandit, SV650 or the FZ6 Fazer. Not sure I’ll be too impressed with the fuel economy of those though!
